Robert Smith

Bob co-founded Sage in 1996 and serves as President and Chief Investment Officer. His investment career began in 1970 and has spanned the globe, from New York to London and Riyadh to Austin, Texas. Bob introduced responsible investing to Sage well over a decade ago and has led the firm’s evolution to today’s emphasis on sustainable investing and the pillars of ESG investing. He is a recognized thought leader and frequent speaker in the space, having delivered key addresses for United Nations conferences on sustainable development and the for UN-supported Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI). Additionally, Sage hosts a biennial conference that features a diverse range of speakers on trending and evolving ESG topics. Within the insurance industry, Bob has been actively engaged with Society of Financial Examiners (SOFE), various state regulators, and captive domiciles and associations. Bob received his MBA in Finance from New York University’s Stern School of Business, and he is an Accredited Investment Fiduciary (AIF) and Certified Investment Management Consultant (CIMC).
